Universities

The Technical University of Sofia is the largest educational and scientific complex in Bulgaria in the field of technical and applied science with an institutional accreditation grade of 9.5 (on the scale of 10) for the period 2012 – 2018. As the first and largest polytechnic center, which supported the establishment of most of the higher technical colleges in the country, it sets the educational standards and national priorities for the development of engineering education and science.

The Technical University of Sofia is the first and largest university, having fostered the emergence of most of the higher technical colleges in the country with the highest accreditation grade of all higher schools in Bulgaria, setting educational standards and introducing national priorities for development of education and science. The University structure includes 14 faculties in Sofia. One of them is Faculty for telecommunications.

The perfectly equipped laboratories of the Technical University of Sofia guarantee the high quality training of the students and PhD students in the fields of computer and communication technologies, electronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering, transport technologies, management and business administration. An important role for increasing the level of teaching, scientific and applied research activities of the Technical University of Sofia is played by the University's cooperation with large transnational companies such as Siemens, Eriksson, Microsoft, Daimler/Benz, etc.

The Technical University of Sofia enjoys close working relationships with more than 50 universities in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. The University is a member of prestigious European and world organisations and participates in various projects under EU, UNESCO and NATO programmes.
 

The Faculty of Telecommunications was created in 1963 as a part of the Faculty of Radio-electronics. It is very attractive for the students and companies today as high level educational and research center. The staff of the Faculty of Telecommunications consists of 61 lecturers and scientists together with 16 technical assistants. They form a perfect team of highly qualif ied specialists. The Faculty has 22 Ph.D. students and nearly 1200 students in the field of electronic

communications – radio-, audio-, video-technologies, telecommunications systems and networks, environmental and energy control, etc. The research papers and R&D applications developed in the faculty are accepted worldwide. They are published in the most prominent professional magazines. Project results are practically implemented in Bulgarian industry and abroad. Graduates of the Faculty of Telecommunications manage the Bulgarian telecommunications industry, companies and research institutes. Thanks to their multidisciplinary knowledge they are employed and realize themselves successfully also in related fields such as information technology, computer science, electronics, automation, etc. The graduates of the Faculty of Telecommunications are also very successful in their realization and career abroad.

The Faculty of Telecommunications consists of three departments:

       •Department of Communications Networks

       •Department of Technologies and Management of Communications Systems

The department "Radio communications and Video technologies" is one of the first Low Voltage Departments in Bulgaria with a rich history, prestige and deep tradition both in educating students and in research in the domain of Telecommunications.

The Department of Communication Networks was founded in 1946 as part of the department "Radio Frequency and Low Voltage Technology”. The founder of the department was prof. eng. Grigor Uzunov.

The Department of Technology and Management of Communication Systems was founded in 1988. Active participation in the foundation of the new department took the famous Bulgarian scientist and expert in design and technology of radio-electronic equipment Prof. Georgi Grigorov Savov.

About Niš and University

Niš is the third largest city of Serbia and the administrative center of the Nišava District and regional center of southeast Serbia. Niš is located at the crossroads of Balkan and European roads that connect Europe to the Middle East and since ancient times has been considered as the gateway between the East and West. It is one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and Europe and has a rich historical heritage. It is also the birthplace of Constantine the Great, the first Christian Emperor and the founder of Constantinople.

As a modern university city at the same time is natural, social, economic, educational, health, cultural and sport center of southeast Serbia. Some of the main tourists attractions are: Niš Fortress - built by the Turks in the first decades of the 18th century (1719–23); Skull Tower - a tower made out of skulls of Serbian uprisers, killed and decapitated by the Ottomans in period (1804–13), Concentration camp “Crveni Krst” - one of the few preserved Nazi concentration camps in Europe; Mediana - archeological site, an Imperial villa, from the late Roman period located on the road leading to Sofia, Bulgaria; ÄŒegar Hill - the place where Battle on ÄŒegar Hill took place on 19 May 1809 etc.

 

The University of Niš has been founded in 1965 and consists of 13 faculties. From the University foundation until the academic year 2016/2017, 68408 students have graduated from the University of Niš, 1350 of them being foreign citizens, while 2571 postgraduates acquired their magister degrees and 1849 candidates, including 45 foreigners, defended their doctoral dissertations.

 

 

About Belgrade and University

Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name translates to "White city". Belgrade is situated in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. Belgrade is the capital of Serbian culture, education, science and economy. As a result of its tumultuous history, a lot nations have been living in Belgrade for centuries, and Serbs of Orthodox christian religion are the majority of population (90%).

Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe and since ancient times it has been an important traffic focal point, an intersection of the roads of Eastern and Western Europe. Its history lasts full 7000 years. The area around two great rivers, the Sava and the Danube has been inhabited as early as palaeolithic period.

Ancient sources provide the oldest known name for Belgrade - Singidunum.

The University of Belgrade is the oldest and the largest university in Serbia. Founded in 1808 as the Belgrade Higher School in revolutionary Serbia, by 1838 it merged with the Kragujevac - based departments into a single university. The University has nearly 90,000 students (including around 1,700 postgraduates) and over 4,200 members of teaching staff. Since its founding, the University has educated more than 330,000 bachelors, around 21,300 magisters, 29,000 specialists and 12,600 doctors. The University comprises 31 faculties, 12 research institutes, the university library, and 9 university centres. The faculties are organized into 4 groups: social sciences and humanities; medical sciences; natural sciences and mathematics; and technological sciences.

The Faculty of Transport has grown into a strong scientific and educational institution with its numerous educational activities and scientific work is the most renowned institution of its kind in our country. It is recognized and appreciated outside the country. Teaching staff, which now has Traffic School, the education and scientific experience, very favorable conditions of work, established numerous relationships with commercial traffic and other scientific and educational centers in the country and abroad, represent a sound basis for further successful development of Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade. The Faculty was organized six departments in which graduate education and traffic engineers to: Department of Railway Transport, Department for road and urban transport, water transport department, the Department of Air Transport, Department of Logistics and the Department of Postal and telecommunications with two direction: post and telecommunications traffic.
